Monkey Nukes

"It’s the dog end of 1984 and our hero Adam desperately needs to finish his novel or start his novel or have a cigarette or go home or buy some shoes or fall in love or something...

Our story is set against the birth and growth of London's first Scottish-themed vegetarian hang-out, the Monkey Nukes and the bedsitter society around it.

Confused young language teacher Adam’s loose-end life is further unsettled when the cause of a bitterly remembered heartbreak returns only to fall into his best friend’s arms.

Adam desperately needs to get her back.

Or does he?

Maybe some other destiny awaits him as he stumbles through a tale of music and libraries, porn and Airfix kits, murder and cappuccinos, drugs and Walkmans, friendship and telephone boxes, beer and cigarettes, Betamax and nuclear war, and more beer … life and love for the directionless young of 1980s West London."

Monkey Nukes is a new 85 page graphic novel by Simon Mackie and Ben Rowdon published through Milk Float Comics
